Choosing your plants

It’s all about soils…

Plants that grow in a particluar area change with the underlying soil. Some plants are suited to dry and sandy conditions while others grow best in wetlands or swampy environments.

The soil on your property will largely be determined by your location, such as how far you are from the coast and then within the landscape, such as whether your land is adjacent to a river or at the top of a ridge.

Their favourite conditions…

In order for plants to perform at their best they need to be growing in their favouite conditions.

That\’s why we have prepared species lists for the most common soil types in our region.

The species listed are the plants that would have naturally occurred in these locations, so they\’re not only going to perform well but they\’ll also provide habitat to local birds and animals.

Name your soil type…

If you can name your soil type and the purpose of your planting (what you want your plantings to do in your space) on our order form you can leave plant selection to us, if you like…
