COMMUNITY NURSERY
Leschenault
HO ARE WE?
Managed by a committee of volunteers, the Leschenault Community Nursery has operated continuously since 1991.

Vision
The great vision driving all work at the nursery is for the conservation of the great diversity of native plants and animals in our region to be assured. It's a big vision! And we are just one player in achieving it.

Our provision of local plants - the task we have set ourselves to contribute to this goal - is made possible by the many willing volunteers who do all the things required produce to healthy seedlings, from collecting the seed in the bush to helping load the utes and trailers with ready-to-plant seedlings on collection days.

Providing hard to get species
Aside from knowing that they're helping their local environment by planting local plants, the good news for our customers is that as a non-profit organisation, we can offer a wider range of species at a much lower cost than commercial plant nurseries. This means more plants for your money, something we all like to hear!

The nursery is dedicated to continuous improvement and our project manager continues to expand the capacity and knowledge-base of the nursery and its volunteers.  We are always adding new species to the growing list, trialling new propagation methods and creating links with other organisations and groups within the South West. A recent proposal to grow native orchids in partnership with the SW Regional College of TAFE will be a first in Western Australia when it gets underway.
